Spiritual Direction has been described as "Therapy with G-d Included".
I would add to that that most therapy searches for all the guidance for a person's life internally.
But in Jewish spiritual guidance we look both to the individual's soul for guidance and to Jewish tradition.
Spiritual guidance is always done in 1-on-1 sessions, whether in-person, by phone, or by webcam.
Common questions in Jewish Spiritual Guidance include
- Is there really a purpose to my life?
- If so, what is it?
- Why do bad things happen to good people / good things happen to bad people?
- Are there external expectations on me, or are they all internally-generated?
- Is there truly right and wrong, or is it all relative?
- How can I retain, but move beyond my intellectual understanding of the universe?
- How do I have peace in my life without giving up my commitment to the world around me?
