Pre-marriage Counseling
Pre-marriage counseling is intended to provide all types of couples a strong foundation for a lasting relationship. Usually done in a series of 6-8 sessions, we explore topics including conflict resolution skills, balancing independence and couplehood, financial management, sexuality, household expectations, communication skills, and families of origin. Our goal in these sessions is to identify key areas of strength and key areas of challenge for you as a couple, so that you can rely on strengths and work on challenges effectively throughout your relationship.
Marriage Improvement / Couples Counseling
Marriage improvement / couples counseling can look very much like pre-marriage counseling using a fixed number of sessions to explore a range of couplehood topics, or it can offer a short or long-term focus on specific topics already identified by you, the couple. Either way, my role is to combine counseling knowledge with facilitation skills to enable your effective communication, discussion, conflict resolution, to strengthen and celebrate, and enhance your sacred relationship.
Family Counseling
No matter what your family constellation, my role and goal is to promote effective communication between family members, to help all family members deepen their understanding of each other’s perspectives, and to help your family thrive. My substantial background in family dynamics, family systems, and genealogical analysis combines well with what has been described as “deft facilitation skills” to help families not just overcome challenges, but to grow together as individuals and as a family.
